The malware scan is now identifying two files as missing after the 9.9 update. They are: /cerber-activity.php and /cerber-addons.php. I believe the cerber/activity file was retired, possibly the cerber/addons file as well.
My comment and suggestions is (especially in these days of increased security and hacking) that it would be very helpful if the malware scans are also updated when files are retired and/or deleted to reflect accurate results. Thanks!
You are correct: both cerber-activity.php and cerber-addons.php were retired and removed from WP Cerber. When updating to version 9.9, the plugin removes these files automatically.
Please run the Integrity Scanner once to verify the WP Cerber installation. It will check all plugin files and remove any obsolete WP Cerber files that may still remain on the website.
To automate this cleanup, use WP Cerber Professional. It scans your website on a schedule and removes obsolete and malicious files in the background.
Hello and thank for the reply. What I am seeing is that after I run the integrity scanner (full and quick), it continues to display those two files as missing when verifying the Cerber Plugin, even if run multiple times (see attached.) I am just curious if the Integrity Scanner Program gets updated, so those files will not be listed as missing in the future? Thanks
I recommend reinstalling WP Cerber to ensure that all plugin files are current and complete. Your settings and security data will be preserved. Use the official WP Cerber website.
Thanks for reporting, David. You are correct. No action is needed on your side.
cerber-activity.php and cerber-addons.php are retired WP Cerber files that are intentionally removed during an upgrade. Their absence is expected and does not indicate an incomplete or compromised installation.
I confirm that the integrity data for WP Cerber 9.9 still includes these two retired files, which causes the scanner to incorrectly report them as missing. This issue is on our side, and we are investigating how this happened and correcting the integrity data.
Reliable integrity verification is a core part of WP Cerber, so we take reports like this seriously.
