hello I have the problem after the last update that no one can log in anymore jer user has this error Pre-authentication block No matter if admin or member, there is only WP Cerber in the page. It also doesn’t help if the user is on the white list.
How can I fix this. I have to switch off everywhere.
Hi! There is some code on your website, such as a plugin or a theme module, that is causing this behavior by hooking into the standard WordPress authentication filter. Membership plugins often do things like this. If you let me know what plugins you’re using, I might be able to suggest a solution.
As a member plug-in I use Indeed Ultimate Membership Pro
Check the settings of this plugin. It’s preventing users from logging in.
I second to this reported behavior.
With WP Cerber 9.6.6 installed, it is not anymore possible on my site to log into wordpress via “email address & password” combination. Login process fails with error (XYZ is my admin email):
Error: The username XYZ is not registered on this site. If you are unsure of your username, try your email address instead.
And WP Cerber log registers “Pre-authorization block”.
I have to log in only via “username & password” combination, then login works. I have no membership plugin installed.
After disabling WP Cerber 9.6.6, the “email address & password” login method is again possible, so it seems caused by 9.6.6 version. This issue was not encountered in previous WP Cerber versions (i am long time user), when downgrading to 9.6.5 - the issue is gone. I hope to get it fixed, so I dont have to rely on old version only.
I also use ultimate member plugin 2.9.2 and after WP Cerber 9.6.6 no one can login. Tried resetting my password first. I then cloned the site and removed WP Cerber 9.6.6 and was able to login. I also removed LiteSpeed Cache plugin and more. Issue remains unless I remove WP Cerber.
The issue looks to be a Pre-authentication block. I read this was new in 9.6.6 but don’t see any settings that may help. I so pissed I didn’t backup the plugin before updating it. I will turn off auto update on this plugin if it’s one I can use again in the future.
Is it possible to I find a copy of WP Cerber 9.6.5? Edit** I had a backup of 9.6.3. installed it and I can now login.
This is also no problem if you deactivate Cerber. There are also errors in the log files. But do not necessarily want to post in the open area
I have now upgraded everyone back to 9.5.6. There are no problems, but nobody can log in with 6.6. The system is up to date and everything is updated
Hi, any update on the topic? Seems there are more people who have the same behavior (at least 3 just in this group), perhaps more affected (who dont realize it yet). Could you please kindly confirm/reject the issue? Should be fairly easily reproducible - just try to login via email address to wordpress admin section on 9.6.6 cerber version.
Or if there is any other way how to report it better, just please let us know here…

Hi there are no other messages, it doesn’t matter what you try to log in with it doesn’t work, have now reverted to 9.5.6 then it works. If I have time I have to try it on my staging page. See if I can find anything there.
New WP Cerber version is out, but the “Pre-authentication” bug seems not fixed in 9.6.7, eventhough this thread is 1 month old.
So my users still can not log into wordpress via email address, which is very unfortunate (and not acceptable for my eshop customers, due to autogenerated username (which no one remembers)). So I have to stay on 9.6.5 version (last good version without this bug). Perhaps time to look elsewhere, quite a pity - WP cerber was otherwise ideal for my needs:-(
I have the same problem, I can’t update because no user can log in anymore, not even me as admin.
Still not fixed in 9.6.7.3 
For those also affected by this bug, dont try to update. Last “this bug safe” version is 9.6.5
