Hey folks! ![]()
As we’re all getting ready to wrap up 2025, we’ve got one final update to share. We’ve spent a lot of time under the hood to make sure your WordPress stay steady and your logs stay clean while you’re off enjoying the holidays.
In version 9.6.11, we focused on making the data you see more “human” and your server’s defense a bit tougher. Here’s the lowdown:
Smarter Logs, Better Triage
We’ve overhauled how Cerber identifies who’s knocking at your door. By switching to a new deterministic parser, we’ve taken the guesswork out of your traffic logs. This makes security triage much faster:
-
Identify AI Bots: Now you’ll see exactly when GPTBot, ClaudeBot, or Meta are scanning your content.
-
No more “Who’s this?”: Legitimate requests from services like PayPal and Stripe are now clearly labeled, so you don’t have to worry about vital payment webhooks.
-
Mobile Forensics: If you need to dig deep into an incident, you’ll now see precise versions for iOS and Android devices in the logs.
Extra Armor Against DoS
We’ve tweaked our .htaccess rules to mitigate CVE-2018-6389. It’s a bit of a technical mouthful, but basically, it stops a specific type of attack that tries to slow down your server by overloading script requests. It’s that extra layer of protection to keep things snappy even under pressure.
Security That Speaks Your Language
For our non-English users: we heard you. We’ve done a deep cleanup of the way the plugin handles different languages. We’ve moved away from “stitching” sentences together and fixed the plural logic. Now, whether it’s 1 attempt or 21, the grammar will be spot on, and the word order will feel natural in your native language.
Stay safe, enjoy the fireworks, and let us know what you think of the update!
