WP Cerber Security 9.6.6

Please welcome WP Cerber 9.6.6. This version introduces several important changes aimed at improving compatibility, usability, and security for WordPress sites. It includes automatic translations, improved error handling, and better support for setups where WordPress resides in a separate folder, such as Bedrock. If automatic updates are enabled in the main settings, this version will be installed without your intervention. Here’s a detailed overview:

Compatibility Improvements

  • Plugin Compatibility: WP Cerber now integrates more smoothly with third-party plugins, ensuring better error handling and fewer conflicts on login and password reset forms for both WordPress and WooCommerce.
  • Advanced WordPress Setups: Improved compatibility with setups like Bedrock, where WordPress files are stored in separate folders.

Automatic Translations

WP Cerber now provides fully automated translations for non-English websites, making localization effortless.

  • Translations are automatically downloaded as PO and MO files from the WP Cerber cloud when the “Allow updating WP Cerber from its official website” setting is enabled.
  • If translations are not yet visible, you can manually download them by navigating to Dashboard > Updates > Update Translations.
  • All translations are AI-generated to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Authentication Process Updates

  • Third-party filters can now hook into the ‘authenticate’ filter to block users from logging in based on their rules.
  • Login attempts blocked by external plugins are logged in the Activity Log with the label ‘Pre-authentication block’ for better visibility.

Minor Enhancements

  • PHP Error Logging: Any PHP errors that may occur are optionally saved to a log and displayed on the Diagnostic tab for easier troubleshooting. This feature can be disabled in the main settings.
  • Deprecated Code Removal: The obsolete “Cerber Security Cloud protocol” setting has been removed.
  • Codebase Optimization: A significant portion of the code has been cleaned up and optimized, improving stability and performance.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed broken links to Anti-spam settings in Activity log pop-ups.
  • Resolved untranslated tab titles on non-English admin pages.
  • Fixed a fatal PHP error when saving add-on settings.
  • Corrected URLs in Activity and Traffic logs for setups where WordPress files are in separate folders.
  • Addressed an issue where pressing CTRL and clicking a link failed to open it in a new tab.
  • Fixed broken “View details” links on the Plugins admin page.

This update also raises the minimum PHP requirement to version 7.2, with PHP 8.x recommended for optimal performance. WordPress 5.8 or newer is required.

:point_right: As always, we encourage users to keep their WordPress updated to ensure the best experience with WP Cerber.
